Looking GREAT in 2008...

Yep, you guessed it...I, like millions of other people, have made the New Year's resolution to lose weight and become more fit and healthy in 2008. (You know how I've got to lose that baby fat from Ez...IF ONLY I HAD THAT EXCUSE!) So, anyway, I am still forming my game plan on how it is to be done. I've started working out regularly again and will be trying the standard portion control and reduction of junk. I will be faithful at watching my favorite, motivating t.v. show, The Biggest Loser, and if I can ever get on their new website (it is down due to high traffic) I'm going to do whatever it is they are doing involving America losing millions of pounds together. "America, next time you see me...I'll be 26 pounds lighter and sporting a bikini in Mexico"... (O.K...maybe the bikini bit is taking it a wee tad too far but I will be 26 pounds lighter by the end of July). So, I'm rallying the troops (that would be you, my blog reader friend). What has worked for you? How do you stay motivated? Anyone else working on this, too?

ok, i'm working on this too! i thought a comment that dear abby made was good--it was a thing about 'just for today'. what if we approached everyday w/o thinking about timetables and schedules, and all that--what if we got up in the morning and said, today i am going to do these things b/c i want to do them today--and not worry if we ran a mile the day before or whatever. i'm going to try that approach.

well the first thing that kept me motivated is thinking my picture might be posted on my sisters blog! Now my mexico reunion in June is getting me pretty pumped! I really do have 20 more to go. I'm going to step it up with turbo Jam!

Kris has motivated me to try this as well this year. On New Year ’s Day we started the South Beach Diet. I hope to learn how to eat better. I also hope to make it through the next two weeks.

I'm planning on looking fine in 2009. Haha. I can never lose weight when I'm breastfeeding. So for now I'm trying to get over the fat guilt.

Too bad we don't live a little closer to each other!! We could do this together. My weight loss goal is 25 lbs...but I am giving myself one year to lose it. Good luck, I'll keep tabs on you, and you can keep tabs on me. I have worked out both days this year! Hurray for me! What about you? I've got to figure out how to do that ticker thing.

Ok you are to cute I think you are adorable and perfect and we might not gain from having a baby inside our body but we still gain from the stress that comes with adopting... so it is baby weight! But my advise would be to always leave food left on your plate and dont eat after 7 at night! Good luck I will for sure buy you a polka dot bikini to celebrate!

I of course will join the movement. I lost 35ish last year and want to double it this year. We'll see how long I can keep Erica on South Beach but I maintain that nutrition gets it off and exercise keeps it off. Good luck!

Thanks for all of the great comments, guys. Sounds like a lot of us are working on this! Let's check in with each other every once in awhile. I need some accountability!
Also, I realized after getting on the website, that the Biggest Loser million pound match up has to be done in couples. Blaine is out...he has to GAIN, not lose. And, you have to create an online profile with pics. and video blurbs and update it every week. Although that sounds like fun....I barely have enough time to work out and blog...adding one more thing doesn't sound like it will work right now. So, I will try another way to track my weight loss.

I find that if I commit to an online program where I actually have to pay money, I am much more likely to stick with it. I agree with the don't eat after a certain idea. Also, drink lots of water and keep track of your measurements. I'm still working on those last ten. It always helps to be accountable to someone. If you need some accountability, I'd be happy to be motivated with you.

...don't eat after a certain time idea. That's what I meant.

Alright I work out like crazy, but I seem to hover around the same weight. I've decided it isn't so much about a certain number, but how I feel and look. Although I would kill to lose that last 7 or 9 pounds I am feeling good and I have lost inches and my clothes fit much better. I know a few people who swear by weight watchers and I know you can do it online now. Good luck to us all in our pursuit of fitness and weight loss!

What a great blog entry! I am right there with you. Ken and I are starting South Beach on Monday. I lost just over 20 last year and even though that is a small number, I figure that I shouldn't get too upset with myself as long as I keep heading in the right direction. It also helps to have people checking up on me. Accountability is really important; that is why I made a handy, dandy chart for my bathroom wall. Want one?

Okay, so you better keep posting and keep us updated on where you are on this. I'm another one that is joining the club in wanting to loose weight this year. I want to loose 30 pounds. Last year I lost 16, and then with the holidays I gained back 4...Rrrr. So the challange is on, and I'm going to be checking back to see if you have stuff to keep me motivated.

Well, I too have committed to being more healthy this 2008--and am going to enjoy life also! :) I think for me, as long as I choose wisely, and everything in moderation, and of course WW works for me, EXERCISE is the key! I feel good about myself, if I am exercise, and try hard not to get on that scale! :)Let's keep each other motivated...sounds great to me! Thanks for the friendship!

I too started South beach this week. My plan is to do phase one of S.B., and then start phase two of "Best life diet". Because it focuses on exercise more than S.B does. I bought a punch pass to the Rec. center in Aug. and have yet to use it. Anyone interested in going with me?
