The bottle dilemma

So, we were on a family bike ride this morning when I noticed some bottle nipples on the trail. Strange thing to have dropped on a trail but it got me thinking...what are we going to do about bottles? We used Avent Bottles with Bella but we REALLY did not like them. They constantly leaked from the seal and we swore to never use those bottles on the next baby. Do any of you have strong opinions about bottles? What about the kind with the bags? What is the advantage to that? Please take my poll and vote on a bottle that you like and leave comments if you have anything that would be helpful for us to consider. Also, are there any super cool new "must have" baby items that have come out in the past 3 years? Some things I have noticed are those snug grocery cart and restaraunt high chair covers. Are those worth it? What about a hot sling? Thanks for your opinions!

We used Avent too with Madison and I was planning on using them again until you just reminded me how they leaked, so did Madisons. YIKES all the things to think about. Good luck I am no help!
The only new baby thing Im in love with right now are Pediped shoes for kids they are a bit pricey though

Although Gracie never really used bottles, we bought both the avent and Dr. Brown. I prefered the Dr. Brown to the Avent. Tiffany is also a fan of the Dr. Brown. She told me that they help reduce the amount of air a baby swallows. I have both the high chair and the shopping cart covers. I use the high chair cover a lot. I REALLY like it because in most places their chair seatbelts are broken, but it doesn't matter because the cover has a seatbelt. For me the seatbelt is a MUST, since Gracie is such a climber. I used the grocery seat cover when she was in the really oral stage, but now I feel like it is more of a bother (getting it out of the trunk, putting in on, taking it off. . . ). I'm not sure if you have a Bumbo or a Babypod, but I loved them. They are little seats for babys 3 months and up. They help them to sit without assistance. It serves many purposes, we used ours for feedings (when traveling), taking pictures, and doing hair. She loved it, and the way the seat is built it offers them lots of support at their back and bum (so they are steady but can't get out). Also they have these little container that attaches to your diaper bag, that holds smell good disposable bags. It is great when you are visiting anywhere were you have to dispose of a diaper, but don't want to make a huge smell. Also this is for older kids, but I am loving the juice box holders. Gracie loves to hold juice boxes, but this little thing makes it so she can't squeeze the juice everywhere. They are only a couple bucks each. Sorry this was such a long entry.

I did Avent with Ethan after I nursed and they leaked for us too. This time I bought Playtex VentAire bottles. I have had several friends rave about them (including Dina). They help reduce gas & colic with the vent system on the end. I plan to nurse, but still pump and use a bottle too.

My sister in law has a Bumbo Baby Sitter chair...it's awesome! I got one for my baby shower and can't wait to use it. It also comes with a tray to eat at. She took it camping with us and the baby could sit on the table or anywhere and be entertained by being upright. Plus it promotes muscle strength, which might help your son and his tummy. My neighbor has a Down's baby and her therapist uses the chair too.

Um we just went the cheap route and used the Playtex drop-in bottles. (the kind with the bags) At that time we are out & about a lot and I liked the idea of with the bags you always have "a clean bottle" on hand. (& I heard the advent ones leaked...like you experienced.) I was fine with those, and might use them again.
As for cool new stuff...I used a shopping cart cover (the cute cloth kind) and LOVED it! I'm using it again if we get a girl, and if we get a boy...I'll have to get a new one. (Less colds and stuff to worry about from all those germs.)
My sister told me about this place that has cool slings...I'll have to get back to you on their website. But she said it's a must-have when you have a toddler running around...and some babies just want to be held all the time...this was HER solution and she loved hers.
I love that you're posting this, I'm going to "soak it all up" for when we get picked too. :)

Well I gotta tell ya....I use the cheap bottles from target, their brand, and I love them. This is my fourth and I've used about every kind of bottle and I guess it really depends on how picky the baby is. Kaia will only use certain things and the other three could have cared less. I do like the bag ones but I hated when I ran out of bags. It was harder with a bunch of kids to just go run and get some more. I've never used grocery cart covers so I don't have any opinions on those and my kids dont' really get sick that much either way, I've never used bumbo's but all my friends love them. I'm just cheap I guess. Maybe if they were around with my first I would have invested but since this is prob it for me I didn't bother.

I used Evenflo. That is what Regan likes. I like them because they are more compact and easier to pack around. Plus they seem easy for the little hands to get around. I used Advent a couple times, and really had no issues with them. I have one of the Target ones...the nipple constantly collapses on her, so I don't like that one. I am going to go and check out the Bumbo seats!!

Hey Tirsa, I have to first say my husband says hello from Camarillo 3rd ward. I don't remember if it's 3rd. Alex Burke told me to say hello. Anyway, I am so excited that it is a boy. First off when you see the WeeBlocker don't get it. I know it sounds like a good idea to protect from yourself from getting "fired" on but Aidan just kicked it right off. Check it out at the store though cause you'll have a good laugh. Bottlewise we have Avent (which do leak!) and Playtex Venti-Aire which I love. He seems to do well with both of those. The other thing he absolutely loves is his GumDrop Pacifiers that I have to order online cause he doesn't prefer regular ones and his Baby Papasan Cradle Swing. He still loves that thing. I've also heard the Bumbo is great. Congrats again on your little boy. They are soooo much fun.

Hey everyone. Thanks for all of your comments. I think it is safe to say that everyone loves different bottles but we nearly all agreed that the avent ones leak alot. And, I am so excited to try out some of your suggestions for must have baby items. Thanks and keep the comments coming!

I used the Avent ones with Josh, but I don't remember them leaking. Honestly I think you should just go with the cheap regular old Gerber ones. That is what I used with Brooks and Ty, they work great and are cheap and easy!

I used Playtex Ventaire with both of my boys and I am using the cheap Gerber and Evenflo with our new little daughter. There doesnt seem to be any difference and they work great. Of course, she has no problem with spitting up or colic or acid reflux like my other 2. Go cheap and you can always switch if you don't like them. I find I use the Evenflow Comfi's the most. I am so excited for you.

Hey Tirsa~ I tried to put a poll on my site but it would only let one person vote. Any hints?

we just used gerber bottles--only got the avent last time b/c we FINALLY got the isis pump, which was good. but there's so many cool baby things I feel so out of it now. the one huge investment I made when K was a baby was a maya wrap. Still have it since it can hold children up to 60 pounds.
