Well, I know many of you are wondering how it went...And, from our perspective it went very well, albeit a bit akward. She is a very cute, petite (seriously, I look more pregnant than she does), wonderful young lady (do I sound like an old woman or what)? She was pretty reserved and private, which I don't blame her for at all. What an akward meeting in the first place! She seemed very confident in her decision and she seemed like a very bright and independent girl. She told us that she chose us out of 16 profiles!!! Can you believe it? We were pretty amazed to find that out. Sometimes you doubt your ability to be chosen when you go through the agonizing waiting period in adoption so to find out that she chose us out of so many profiles was a real boost to our collective ego. She also told us that as soon as the baby is born he is "ours" and that we can be as involved in the hospital as possible. This was a real relief to us since he will be having a post-birth surgery and we wanted to be around to learn how it goes and to see him and hold him for the first time as soon as possible. Of course, we plan on "sharing" him with her as much as she needs and wants. We left the meeting really feeling like, "This is for real. This is really our child." I can't say enough about the gratitude we feel for such an amazing and selfless person. Adoption is an interesting thing and many people might argue that it is a "second best" choice but not Blaine and I. We know that children are a gift from God and we honestly feel privileged to know that our children come not only from Him but through incredible women such as these birthmoms.
O.K. And just because I am such a dork, I'll put up some pictures of us that we took after the meeting. I cut her out of them for confidentiality purposes. Isn't my new yellow shirt cute? Unfortunately, the unintended side effect of the shirt is that it made me look so much more prego than our 7 month pregnant birthmom. What was I thinking? I should have stuck with the white shirt like my friends in California told me to wear after my birthmom-meeting-shopping-spree/fashion-show.
Doesn't my man look cute in some "preppy" clothes? Seriously, it was so fun shopping for Blaine in California because he wasn't there to grumble about any purchases and I got to buy him a bunch of "preppy", "professional" clothes for his Nurse Practitioner's clinicals that he just started. I'm sure he would've been much happier in one of his ten year old surf tees and some shorts but he cleans up pretty well, huh?

We are absolutely thrilled for you guys and are glad to hear that the meeting went well. Hope it will continue to go smoothly!
Don't even ask why I am wide awake leaving comments at almost 3am. You will soon find out all over again! Anyway, I'm glad to know that everything went so well. I wish I could see what she looked like. And trust me you don't look pregnant! You guys look great and thats about the preppiest I've ever seen Blaine! I need to figure out how to get steve to wear a shirt with a collar. hmmmm. I'm so exited for you guys.
I'm glad everything went well! I know how nerve-racking that meeting can be.
Fun that you got to do the "shopping for the right outfit" with friends...just makes it more fun. And how perfect that Blaine wasn't there, and you got to pick out whatever YOU knew would look good on him. Tell him it's a nice shirt!
And there is NO WAY you look pregnant in that shirt.
I am so excited for you guys. I love reading your blog.
How exciting! I think your crazy you looked so cute I think no matter what you would have wore you would have second guessed though right!! Anyways yaaaaa
I am so glad things went well! I think your top looked cute!
I am glad that things went well at the big meeting. I am glad she is confident in her decision. I am sure that feels great on your part. I wondered all weekend how the meeting went, but didn't think to check your blog until this morning, duh! I think you look awesome! And by the way, I am nesting too. Ben is worried that I might be prego (I am not), I think you just inspired me to get organized. We'll talk soon.
Tirsa,
You looked beautiful. I am so glad that things went well. We have been thinking about you guys. Please keep the posts coming!!
I am so excited for you. Your meeting sounds like our meeting with our first birthmom. We were huge and she was 5'2 and tiny. We couldn't imagine why she chose us but soon understood that Heavenly Father really does have His hand in all things. When that child is supposed to come to your family, He makes it possible and opens the way for our birthmom's to find us. Isn't it amazing??? Yeah, it's a hard road to travel but the payoff when you get your precious little son or daughter is incredible. I am so excited for you and I can't wait to hear more news.
You guys are the neatest people. Anyone birth mom would be blessed to have you and Blaine be their child's parents. Keep up the info, we all like knowing how things are going for you.
What are you talking about? That shirt is way cute on you! I'm so glad that the meeting went well, of course she picked you two, why wouldn't she? Found something for your little guy on Friday--so much fun!
