Sleep Deprivation

I don't want to sound like a complainer...but, boy are we tired! Ez is up all night and sleeps all day. (Any help on how to reverse this?) I took this picture of Blaine this morning. He had taken Ez downstairs sometime when it was still dark so that I could get a few hours of uninterrrupted sleep. This is sleep deprivation at its finest. But, I'll take the sleepless nights over not having him or having him in the hospital. He's worth it, even though I feel more like a zombie most days than a normal person.

This must be love...Bella is sharing her favorite blankie with Ez.

A not so happy little guy...just wanted to get a picture of him next to Bella's small doll so you could see how big he is.

And here is my pointer finger next to Ezra's arm...yep, that's right...my finger and his arm are about the same size.

baby-wearing. You put them in a sling or wrap so that they're close to you and get used to moving around and having noises during the day and then quiet at night. (at least that's the theory) I have one if you want to borrow.

Oh the fun! Maybe he sleeps better during the day because of all the noise around. He might be use to noise because of all the stuff going on in the NICU. Get a radio and turn it on to some white noise, you know just the static or get a fan or something and see if that helps him sleep better. One of Steve's cousin had a baby in the NICU for awhile and had to do the same thing after she came home! Hang in there, he will get it figured out!!! Hopefully sooner than later!

He's so TINY. Hang in there... eventually he'll figure it out. I had the same prob with the twins. My pediatrician could only recommend trying to keep them up 15 minutes longer (than they normally would be up) during the day, so that eventually they'd go right back to sleep at night. Not sure if that's what worked... or if it was just time... Either way, GOOD LUCK, and ASK for help if it gets to be too much. I'm thinking of you!

O my goodness he is so tiny and adorable! I think seeing you guys sleep deprived is the best thing ever and you guys were it very well! Who would have thought you could be so greatful to not get sleep right! And how sweet is it that Bella is sharing her blanket!

I think that Heather has something. I have heard that babies that spend time in the NICU have to have noise when they sleep. The no sleep thing is brutal, that is what worries me most about having another one. Hey, we might be in Denver next week. . .do you feel up to a visit yet? We won't be there longer than a day (Ben's grandma died), but I was hoping to squeeze in a tiny visit so I can see your little guy. Let me know.

So cute! I'm not sure how to make the switch. I know I've done it four times but I'm not sure how. You will figure it out! Im sure Bella just adores little Ez. Also, Andy wanted to say congrats on taking him home finally. She cried when she saw your blog that he got to go home! She was so happy for you guys.

I have to agree with some of the other comments already. My boys have always been good sleepers, but I firmly believe in noise. We bought a noise maker for Spencer when he was a baby and now Jamison uses it too. I think it really helps, especially when they get older and need naps, but there are other things that need to go on during that time and it is impossible to keep the house quite.

I feel for you guys! I know it is so hard to have a new one up all night, but you are so blessed as you know...:)
Hang in there, and definately ask for help! I would try the sling, it worked for Blake, and also the white noise might too! Good Luck! He is beautiful, and I can't wait to meet him! (and see him in some of those cute clothes!)
