Not home yet but close...

This week has had plenty of ups and downs...literally! Ez lost some weight and got down to 4 pounds 12 ounces. Even though it was to be expected, it was still stressful watching it happen. Without the TPN and lipids pumped directly into his blood stream, we had to rely just on his feedings for his weight gain. And, with him throwing up 1/3 of everything that he ate, he lost weight quickly. But, we have switched formula, he is now on prevacid, and we have tried a different, slower flow bottle nipple and it seems to be the winning combination. He is throwing up less and gaining again. He is back to 4 pounds 15 ounces and looking at coming home soon. We can't wait to have our little guy home with us. Even though we see him every day, we miss him during all of the rest of the hours that we aren't with him. We can't wait for Bella to understand what it really means to have a baby brother. We know we will have lots of adjustments to deal with when he comes home but we are ready. So, bring on the poopy diapers, the late night feedings, the spitting up all of the couches and carpets, and even Bella's temper tantrums she is bound to have when she is de-throned. We are ready!

It will be a big adjustment for Bella. We gave Curtis a "present" from Baby Ethan when he was born...it kept him busy when times were rough.

Good Luck.

That adjustment is always a challenge, but so worth it. I think especially when Josh was born, I realized that it is okay to put the baby down and let them fuss if the big sister needs a little extra love for a minute. It sounds like he is doing well, I sure hope you get to take him home soon!

I can see how he is really getting fluffier!
I'm sure there's days to come where Bella will not be super excited about Ez, but I don't think that will be for a while.

He is really getting some good color and is looking like he is getting healthier. Bella might go through some rough patches, but that is what it is like having siblings. Thank heaven for this beautiful little sibling to Bella.

Hi Tirsa,

You don't know me, but I came across your blog because I had googled ideas for "freezer meals". And your page had come up. We are LDS too.

I just wanted to let you know how touched I was with reading your blog. The story of how Ezra came into your lives brought tears to my eyes. What a tender story and I am so glad that you guys got him. My sister just adopted through LDS services in September and I think it is the most beautiful thing how these angels find their families (and how their families find them).

I also wanted to let you know that both of my sons were born with a congenital birth defect as well. They were both born with cleft lips and palates, and although the surgeries aren't the easiest thing to endure, they have made us stronger and we are so grateful that this is all fixable. I am sure you guys probably have similar emotions. In any case, I usually don't go read stranger's blogs, but when I saw you were LDS, I wanted to read a bit further.

Take care. Ezra is beautiful. And your family looks complete and beautiful with him.
